STRUCTURE

The ACDPU's administrative bodies include the Steering Committee, the Standing Committee, 10 Subcommittees, Regional conferences and the District Consultative Councils both at home and abroad. President Roh Moo-hyun is the president of the ACDPU.

The President of the ACDPU can appoint up to 20 vice-presidents according to their regional and professional backgrounds.

The body of vice-presidents of the 11th term of the ACDPU consists of a senior vice president who stands as a proxy for the president, and 19 other members including, vice presidents of the 16 Metropolitan cities and provinces, the Five Northern provinces, and women's affairs.

The ACDPU is composed of several major official bodies of conference including the Plenary Conference, Regional Conference, the Steering Committee, Standing Committee, and Subcommittees categorized by each expert under the Standing Committee. The ACDPU also has District Consultative Councils both at home and abroad.

The president convenes a Plenary Conference every two years which all members attend (ACDPU law, Article 20). The Regional Conferences are convened by the president when the need arises and are presided over by the vice presidents representing the regions such as Seoul Metropolitan City, Metropolitan Areas, Provinces, the Five Northern provinces, and Overseas Regions (ACDPU law, article 29).

The Steering Committee is established to deliberate general administrative affairs of the ACDPU (ACDPU law, Article 19). The 11th Term Steering Committee consists of 50 members including, 19 vice presidents, chairmen of 10 subcommittees, and 21 professional representatives ; and the Steering Committee is chaired by the senior vice president.

The Standing Committee is established for implementing the decisions of the Plenary Conference and Regional Conferences and orders from the president (ACDPU law article 18). The 11th Term Standing Committee consists of 500 members who are appointed by the president according to their regional and professional representation and is chaired by the senior vice president. The Standing Committee has 10 subcommittees for research on unification policy in their respective areas.

The 11th Term has 10 subcommittees on Policy Deliberation, Education & Public Relations, Regional Cooperation, Economic Cooperation, Social Culture, Sports & Youth, Religious Affairs, Women's Affairs, and National Reconciliation.

Each subcommittee is comprised of experts who make recommendations on policies for unification. They carry out in-depth research on current major issues between South and North Korea and medium and long-term tasks for unification, while making policy recommendation to the government based upon their study results. In addition, the ACDPU sets up and operates domestic district councils at city, county or district level and there are overseas district councils in North America, Europe, Japan, South-East Asia, Oceania, and Latin America. The 11th Term of the ACDPU consists of 232 domestic and 23 overseas district councils.

The Secretariat of the ACDPU is established to operate the ACDPU and support the activities of domestic and overseas members. In order to provide more efficient support for the ACDPU affairs and activities of its domestic and overseas members, the Secretariat has designated 16 metropolitan and provincial governments and overseas diplomatic offices as supporting agents. On behalf of the Secretariat, these supporting agents provide cooperation in holding local ACDPU meetings such as preparation for the local ACDPU meetings and registration of its members.
